A storm and hail damage assessment is a free, insurance-ready inspection of your roof after a major weather event, with full documentation and direct adjuster coordination. Top Hat Roofing handles the entire claim process from initial inspection through supplemental claims across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

DFW gets hammered by hail. We’ve got you covered.

The Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex sits squarely in hail alley. Most homes here will see at least one major hail event per decade. The damage isn’t always obvious — but the insurance window for filing a claim has a hard deadline.

What we do after a storm

  1. Free, no-obligation inspection. We climb the roof and document every hit, with photos and measurements.
  2. We help you file your claim. We provide all the documentation you need and walk you through the process.
  3. We meet your adjuster on the roof. Together. So nothing gets missed.
  4. We handle the supplemental claim process. If the adjuster missed something, we go back and get it covered.
  5. We do the work. Owens Corning Preferred installations with the same materials your policy will cover.

Signs of hail damage

You may have storm damage if:

  • A hailstorm passed through your area in the last 12 months
  • You see dents on your gutters, downspouts, AC fins, or window screens
  • Shingle granules are accumulating in gutters
  • Neighbors are getting new roofs

The only way to know for sure is to get on the roof. That’s what we do — for free.

What your policy probably covers

Most Texas homeowners policies cover roof replacement after storm damage, minus your deductible. That includes:

  • Tear-off and disposal of damaged roofing
  • New shingles, underlayment, flashing, and ventilation
  • Gutters and downspouts if damaged
  • Code-required upgrades

We handle the paperwork so you can focus on getting your home back to normal.

Questions

Storm & Hail Damage questions

Do I have storm damage I can't see from the ground?
Often yes. Hail bruising and granule loss are usually invisible from the ground but obvious on the roof. A free inspection will tell you for sure.
Will filing a claim raise my homeowners premium?
Claims for storm and hail damage are typically considered 'acts of God' and don't directly raise individual premiums the way at-fault claims do. We can't give legal advice — call your insurer if you're unsure.
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We work with all major DFW insurance carriers and meet your adjuster on the roof to document the damage together.
How long do I have to file a claim?
Most policies require claims within one year of the storm event, but it varies. Don't wait — call us for a free inspection and we'll help you understand your options.
What if my claim is denied?
Sometimes adjusters miss damage. We can request a re-inspection and provide additional documentation. We don't get paid unless your claim is approved.
